Not every good band that comes form Norway has to play metal, but the fact that good bands grow in the icy land is a mathematical constant by now.
Kings of Convenience's music is what one would call an ultimate relax fix. With their acoustic guitars and mellow voices, the ambient they create is very similar to the one that the mighty Nick Drake would produce, only the Kings have no seriously dark tones in their music as Drake does.
This indie duo was formed in Bergen (no less!) and its members are Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe. Their first studio album, Quiet is the New Loud, was released in 2001 after they were noticed while performing at European festivals in 1999. The album was a success and, according to Wikipedia, even lent its name to a small movement of musicians in the pop underground.
The follow-up to their debut, Riot on an Empty Street, didn't come until 2004 after which the band was again on a five year hiatus (causing rumors of disbandment). Finally, in 2009 they returned with Declaration of Dependance.
Summer on the Westhill is the tenth song of their debut album.
